Message from National Chairman
It is an incredible honour for me as National Chairman to be able to congratulate the Northerns Club on the occasion of their 50th Anniversary. Northerns as the 4th Nomads Club have achieved quite a bit in 50 years and have much for which they can be proud. Founded in April 1967 as the Northern Transvaal Club but changed their name to Northerns in the mid 90's. Originally sponsored by the Transvaal Club as a result of the success experienced in Nomads at that time. The inaugural game was held at Irene Country Club under Founder Captain Mello McRobert with 65 members. Regrettably only three remain. The Club has had a tradition of healthy membership but in recent years has experienced some difficult phases resulting in a decline in membership. However, with the influx of younger committed Nomads the future bodes well. I am sure this renewed strength will contribute much more to the well-being of Nomads overall. I think it would be remiss of me not to mention the prolonged and dedicated service provided by the Northerns ladies. As Nomads we salute you and thank you all for your devoted service over many years. To the Coordinator of the Golden Daisy 50th Anniversary Danie Jacobs, his hard working assistant Charleen van der Merwe and the balance of his committee we thank you for arranging this magnificent event. I am sure everything will go like clockwork and we look forward with great anticipation to partaking in your celebrations. We thank you once again for inviting us all to share in your celebrations. May I wish The Northerns Club on behalf of Nomads South Africa and indeed Nomads Internationally every success for the future. We all look forward to sharing this success with you. Good golfing and great camaraderie to everyone. Yours in Nomads, Richard Plumb National Chairman Nomads Golf Club of South Africa
